Truckee

History:
Truckee was established in 1868 as a lumber and railroad community connecting Reno and Sacramento. Truckee is well known for the Emigrant Trail and the tragic exploration of the famous Donner Party. Named for a Paiute Indian who helped escort thousands of emigrants on their journey west through a 40-mile desert. Along Old Highway 40 you will find Historical landmarks telling the adventure the legendary getaway to the west.
