Home Sellers Jovanah Mckinney March 30, 2023
With the anticipation of spring we are hearing from clients who are contemplating selling this summer. Ski leases come to an end in late March and kids sporting activities start to kick into full speed - many are packing up their winter gear for the season, despite the massive amounts of accumulation and snow still happening in Tahoe.
Homeowners are in a persistent race against the clock with snow removal. With record levels of snowfall, followed by atmospheric rivers of moisture, we're seeing excessive weight on strained homes.
Many that live out of area do not understand the severity of the snowfall or the risks posed by this level of snow and moisture. Snow is not melting off of roofs with incoming rain, instead, ice dams occur.
An average single family home in Tahoe, saw about 350,000lbs of weight on the roof Mid March. Curious how much weight your roof is holding?
We cannot encourage sellers enough to be proactive in preparing their homes to list. Local labor and sub contractors are under pressures right now and booking up for the majority of 2023. With many experiencing detrimental damage from snow load, not only from roofing issues and ice dams, but interior leaking, broken windows, sheetrock repairs, and more, finding qualified labor will become more challenging as the year goes on and the snow melts.
Inventory is incredibly low and our buyer activity continues to grow each day, make sure your home is ready to show well as you prepare to list this summer.
